Jazz music concerts that take place during the 18th regional event “Crossroads 2017” in which worldwide famous musicians and bands participate every year.
The main characteristic of this event is its focus on new trends in music that the term jazz has a hard time containing. Miles Davis once said to one of his musicians: “Don’t play what’s there, play what’s not there”; Correggio Jazz has made these words its own.
The 2017 program hosts a series of young and not so young musicians who will amaze the audience with their variety of styles.
Jazz has always been a mix of musics, from its origins in New Orleans that mixed with blues, military bands and European music, to nowadays where the African-American tradition, known worldwide, mixes with electronic, rock, and ethnic music as well as other contemporary styles. The only thing that has remained unchanged is the improvisation, which transforms every concert into a unique performance.

Special summer appointment with Aterballetto in its summer residence in the city: the splendid Cloister of St. Peter, one of the most fascinating places in Reggio. The sixteenth-century Benedictine cloisters attributed to Giulio Romano will see the company on the scene for the sixth consecutive year, after the success of audiences in previous years.
On July 20th, for the first time in Reggio Emilia, the whole evening will be on the scene signed by Johan Inger, Dance & Dance Award 2016.
For “Golden Days” the concept at the base of the evening, the element that acts as a glue, is the soundtrack: Tom Waits, Patti Smith and Keith Jarrett. With their music and art, these artists have influenced and contributed to the change of a whole generation. All the work is permeated by a hint of history, nostalgia, a place of the past that seemed to be (at least to look at it today) simple and free.
On July 21, the evening will be composed of three choreographies:
“Words and Space” by Jiry Pokorny
“Adam” by Saul Daniele Ardillo
“Phoenix” by Philippe Kratz (for the first time in Reggio Emilia)
